57th Annual Convention
Gastonia, NC

JUNE 18 - JUNE 23, 2017

Once a year the ANS, Ltd. has a National Convention the last week in June or the first week of July. In order to give all of our members the opportunity to attend, we rotate the convention sites around the country. GASTONIA, NC was chosen as the site for the 2017 convention.

To the Citizens of Gastonia:

The American Navion Society would like to thank you for the wonderful hospitality you extended to us during our week-long convention in your lovely city.

You have one of the most beautiful and welcoming airports we have ever visited.  The City had the facility looking like a postcard and providing the pilots’ lounge set up with water and snacks was certainly appreciated.  Our thanks to Steve Huss, Debbie Key, Cindy Forrester and Joe Albright for putting that all together.  Dennis Moak, airport manager, and Dave Burrell were quick to address every pilot’s need. When we were greeted by Councilman Porter McAteer at the airport and later welcomed by Councilman Dave Humphries at our Pizza Party at Rankin Lake, we knew the week was going to be exceptional.

Our hotel, Comfort Suites, is staffed with truly outstanding personnel.  The managers, Chris Omvik and Jordan Hendricks were very easy to work with.  As private pilots, our arrival and departure dates can change as the weather changes and they were flexible with these last minute adjustments.  Those on the front desk, Jason, Ashley, Laurin and Devon were not only efficient but fun to interact with.  The great breakfast, nice sized boardroom, adjacent patio and laundry facilities were perfect for our needs.

Finally, what a great conference center you have.  We had our awards banquet there and Gerry Durke and the catering staff provided an elegant dinner and setting.

We would be remiss if we didn’t give a thank you to the Golden Corral for setting aside a room for our voting members’ meeting and welcoming breakfast; to the numerous other restaurants that our 100+ members enjoyed; to Parks and Recreation for directing us to Rankin Lake Park; and to the Gazette for coming out to the airport and taking pictures and running a nice article on June 21.

As we look forward to other conventions, you can be sure Gastonia, NC will be high on the list for a return location.
