PREVIEW
OF
This Year's 52nd Annual Convention
Bardstown, KY
JUNE
24 - JUNE 30
Once a year
the ANS, Ltd. has a National Convention the last week in June or the first week of July.
In order to give all of our members the opportunity to attend, we rotate the convention
sites around the country. BARDSTOWN, KY has been chosen as the site of this year's convention.
Why
do we have a convention? For fun, camaraderie and to share the joy our Navions
bring us. We hope you can join us. To get a sense of what is being planned, scroll through our website. Plan to join us this year June 24-June 29, 2012, in Bardstown, KY.
WHAT WILL WE DO?
We have reserved the entire Best Western General Nelson Hotel for the week, which is less than 2 miles from the airport. There are 46 rooms and when those are filled, we have made arrangements for rooms in the Parkview which is a short distance from the BW. Get your reservations in soon so you can be where all the action is.
Keeping with ANS Convention tradition, we will have our welcoming pizza party on Sunday evening at the Jones Avenue Park.
Monday, after our Welcoming Breakfast held in the Carriage Room of the BW, we're scheduled to climb aboard the Heaven Hills Distilleries Trolley
which will take us on a narrated tour of historic Bardstown's most popular sites, highlighted by a stop at the Bourbon Heritage Center. At the Center our tour will continue as we learn about Bourbon aging and history, take a guided Rickhouse tour, watch an award-winning short film and finish up in the tasting room
where we can sample Single Barrel Bourbons such as Evan Williams and Elijah Craig. (I'm told these are 10-18 years old). If you feel so inclined, you can continue on your own to complete the “Bourbon Trail” by visiting the distilleries for Jim Beam, Four Roses, Maker's Mark, Wild Turkey and Woodford Reserve.
Tuesday morning will start with the Speed contest which usually concludes about lunch time. For those not participating in the morning contest, the entire day is open for the exploration of Bardstown, site seeing or a round of golf.

Settled in the late 1700s, Bardstown offers great historic site seeing. The Talbott Tavern represents the oldest western stagecoach stop in America and is considered one of the best whiskey bars in the world.
Wickland, built in the mid 1800s was the home of three governors, and is considered one of the finest examples of Federal-style houses in KY. Kentucky Railway Museum is a 5,000 sq ft depot that contains a collection of artifacts and memorabilia, which interprets the story of America's rail system. Museum Row features Old Bardstown Village, a reproduction of a 1790 frontier community, representative of the first westward movement of the nation;
Wildlife Museum displaying over 11 cases of mineral and fossil displays and North American Wildlife exhibits;
Civil War Museum which has gained a reputation as one of the best Civil War museums in the country. Relics from Civil War battles throughout the region focus mainly on the war's imprint on Western states; The War Memorial of Mid-America featuring artifacts from the Revolutionary War through Desert Storm; Native American Museum focuses on Native American life in KY.
There are five 18-hole and one 9-hole golf courses within 3 miles of Bardstown.
That being said, remember to save some energy for Tuesday evening. You can sign up for a dinner and tour at Federal Hill, better known as My Old Kentucky Home and the Stephen Foster Story musical or the musical only.
.
In March we will highlight the Wednesday tour and the Thursday evening train ride and dinner.
